Boys Varsity Swimming · Stars swimmers place 5th in Sectionals; Wilhite Qualifies to State


The Western Boone boys swim team capped off their Sectional Championships with a 5th place finish. With only 5 boys placing in individual events, this was a great feat for this small boys team!

The 200 Medley relay team of Josh Wright, Keagan Wilhite, Jake McGee and Trent Christner placed 4th with a season best time. Wilhite and Wright had lifetime best times in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:50.26 placing 3rd and 1:58.41 placing 8th respectively. McGee wrapped up his senior season with a 9th place finish in the 50 free with a lifetime best time of 23.79 and a 5th place finish in the 100 free with another lifetime best of 52.14. In the 500 free, Wright finished 4th while freshman Gavan Sallee was 16th.
The 200 freestyle relay of the same quartet was 5th. In the 100 backstroke, freshman Rodney Zigler had a lifetime best time.
In the last individual event of the day, sophomore Keagan Wilhite bested the field in the 100 yard breaststroke with a new lifetime best time of 1:01.46. His win will send him on to the State Meet at the IUPUI natatorium next Friday.
The last relay of the day, the team of Sallee, Finch, Zigler and Youkey took 7th.

The State Meet will begin at 6:00 next Friday at IUPUI.
