The boys basketball teams traveled to Sheridan to take on the Blackhawks Saturday evening. The JV team battled with a tough Blackhawks team as they went into the half with a 3 point lead 19-16. The Stars pulled away in the fourth quarter as they won 41-32. Jake Jones and Adam Pratt led the Stars with 19 combine points.
The varsity team played a tough Blackhawks team as well. It was a back and forth game as the Stars had the lead going into the final quarter at 48-45. The Blackhawks made a late run to tie the game with a little over a minute left. The Stars held the ball for the last shot as Peyton Young had a chance to win the game in regulation but could not find the bottom of the net. The Stars had another chance to win the game with the last shot in overtime but turned the ball over as Sheridan ran down to miss at the buzzer to go into a second overtime. The Stars were down as much as 8 points in the second overtime as they tried to rally to put the game into triple overtime but Peyton Young missed a three to tie the game as the Sheridan Blackhawks came away with the victory with a score of 69-66 in double overtime. The Stars were led by Spencer Wright with 20 points and Connor Hole added 14 points.
The Stars look to bounce back as they will travel to Clinton Prairie on Friday to close out their season starting at 6 pm with the JV team playing first.
