The three Boone County teams advanced to the sectional semifinals tonight in completely different ways.
Western Boone and Lebanon, battled tough Sagamore Conference foes until the final buzzer, winning overtime thrillers to keep their season’s alive.
Western Boone defeated Frankfort 64-61 in double overtime, while Lebanon defeated North Montgomery 55-44 in overtime.
Their reward? A match-up against each other in the sectional semifinals.
It will be the 43rd time Lebanon and Western Boone have met in the past 30 years.
Lebanon is 32-10 in the previous 42, including the last six. Lebanon won 52-39 on Dec. 9.
Since 1993, it’s Western Boone that holds the better of the match-up of sectional play, going 5-2 against their rivals in the postseason.
Against common opponents this year, Lebanon is 8-4, while Western Boone is 5-9.
In the Sagarin ratings, Lebanon is 134th overall, 31st in Class 3A. Western Boone is 315th overall, and 91st in Class 3A.
Offensively, Western Boone is scoring 48.2 points a game and allowing 60.4. Lebanon is scoring 54.3 and allowing 53.8.
For Lebanon, Trevor Lakes leads the team in averaging 22.8 points a game and grabs 6.9 rebounds. Will Byrd is averaging 13.4 points and 3.7 rebounds.
Trevor Boyne is averaging 5.5 points and 2.8 rebounds, with Jaylen Washington averaging 5.0 points and 4.6 rebounds.
For Western Boone, Marshall Hodgen is averaging 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
Lucas Morton is averaging 10.2 points, while Peyton Young is averaging 6.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Garrett Miller is averaging 4.4 points and 3.5 rebounds.
The game will tip 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Tri-West and Crawfordsville game, which starts at 6 p.m.
