The Western Boone girls track team traveled to Guerin Catholic on Tuesday evening for the IHSAA Girls Sectional. Competing against many of the top teams in the state, five of which were ranked in the top twenty, the Lady Stars were 10th with a score of 3.
Olivia Richardson was the only Western Boone athlete to score in an individual event. She was 8th in the discus with a throw of 86’6.5″, which was a 4-foot personal best for her.
Also scoring were the 4x100m relay of Callahan Baxter, Alaina Breedlove, Kara Funk, and Madie Bright, and the 4x400m relay of Katie Potter, Madie Bright, Callie Gubera, and Alexis Goglia. Both relays placed 8th.
In a fitting finish to the season, Alexis Goglia set another school record in the girls 1600m. Running in the final meet of her high school career, Goglia took advantage of the high level of competition to run a fast time and lower her school record. Her time of 5:34.08 broke her previous record of 5:36.6, which she set earlier in the season. Goglia concludes her high school career holding school records in the 1600m and 5K cross country.
Other athletes who earned personal bests were Lizzie Hendricks (1600m), Josie Mahin (3200m), and Katie Potter (800m).
