After a meet on Wednesday night, the Western Boone Jr. High Cross Country team competed for the second night in a row at home and this time against Boone County rival Lebanon. The boys and girls ran strong for the Stars having the girls defeating the Tigers and the Stars’ boys could have been victorious had they not ran with an incomplete team.
The girls race was led by Jenna Mahin with a victorious 1st place time of 13:13, just 2 seconds from last night’s time. And in similar fashion to Wednesday’s meet, Audrey Knoper eeked out 3rd place (14:59) from Raven Willis, who got 4th place with 15:00. This was followed by Isabelle (Izzy) Moore, who shaved off over 1:30 minutes off her PR time (17:00 – 6th place) along with Kennedy Chelf at a time of 20:01 (9th). Great job lady Stars.
Caden Baird led the boys race from start to finish, coming in at 13:10. Benton Foxworthy stepped up his pace by over 40 seconds from the previous night to take 2nd (14:21). Next for the Stars was Gage Griffith who had a PR with 17:18 and was 4th. Anthony Keppel finished out the scoring for the boys with 7th place and running 19:21. The Stars have a week break before competing again.
