|The Western Boone Lady Stars Basketball team traveled to Lafayette Jeff last night for their first game of the season. The Stars were victorious although struggling most of the night.
“That was a normal first game of the season, especially on the road,” Western Boone head coach Rich Schelsky said. “All of our concerns heading into the game were skewed to the offensive end and we would shoot the ball, how we would play and the pace we would play. I thought we were really sluggish offensively, especially in the first half. But, at the end of the day, that is why we scheduled this game; we wanted to be tested. We want to face adverse conditions, so coming on the road against a school that is a lot bigger than us in a big-time league, we needed to be tested like that. Our kids persevered at the end and found a way to win. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how pretty as long as the check goes in the left-hand column.” (interview by Will Willems; Sports Editor – Lebanon Reporter)
