News · Stars conclude record-setting fall

Last night the Sagamore Athletic Conference awards dinner took place at Stookey’s in Thorntown. It was a banner night for Western Boone Athletics.

The Girls finished 1st in the final overall fall standings and the boys finished 2nd. The Stars joined the Sagamore Athletic Conference in 1982. The conference consists of the following 8 schools: Crawfordsville, Danville, North Montgomery, Tr-West, Southmont, Frankfort, Lebanon and Western Boone.

Athletics enjoyed arguably their best fall ever.

The girls cross-country team won the conference championship and had three runners advance to regionals. Alexis Goglia made it to the semi-state. The boy’s team finished second in conference and had four runners advance to regionals with Zach Wade making it to semi-state.

The boys tennis team enjoyed their best season ever finishing with a school best record of 13-3. David James advanced to the regional.

Boys soccer won the sectional championship for the second time in three years.

Like the tennis team, the girls soccer team set the school record for wins in a season with 11.

The volleyball team continued its dominance by going undefeated again in conference. The girls did not drop a set during conference or sectional play. They won their third consecutive sectional and conference championship and lost a heartbreaking 5 set match to Brebeuf in the regional.

The football team finished the season with a 7-4 record under first year head coach, Justin Pelley. In the regular season finale the Stars defeated rival Lebanon for the fourth consecutive year. Webo advanced to the sectional semifinal where they fell to Brebeuf.
