Softball Weekend Roundup - Stars stay alive in Conference Race

The Western Boone Lady Stars Softball team host the McCutcheon Mavericks on Friday night dropping a close one in extra innings 4-3. Ally Lewis got the start going 3 innings giving up 2 hits while striking out 6, Mickey Burns came in a pitched 5 innings giving up 4 hits while striking out 2. The Stars were lead at the play by Emma Shirley and Kenzlei Mathews both with two hits on the evening. The Stars were back in action the very next day as the hosted conference rival and highly ranked Tri-West for a double header. Gabby Lewis got the start in game one and battled in the circle, the right hander allowed 8 hits while striking out 9 and walking 5. The stars put the ball in play but could only produce one hit by Kirstin McCormick dropping the first game 4-0. In the second game Ally Lewis got the start and the Freshman allowed 9 hits while striking out 4. However, in game two the Stars were able to get the offense going garnering 10 runs on 14 hits. Gabby Lewis came in the 7th to close out the win 10-9 for the all-important conference split. The Stars were led at the plate by Emma Shirley, Mikayla Naanos, Ally Lewis and Kirstin McCormick all with multiple hits in the contest. The Stars will be back in action as they travel to Danville on Tuesday April 23rd.
