The Western Boone Stars will head out on the road to face off against the Fountain Central Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches. Western Boone scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over Pike. The win was just what Western Boone needed coming off of a 9-1 loss in their prior game. Quinn Westerfeld made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Westerfeld has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Westerfeld was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. In other pitching news, Levi Stewart looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned run off two hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Howe, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Jackson Grimes was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
